About Our Eye Tests
At Spectacle Warehouse we are focused on caring for your eyes with a comprehensive bulk billed eye test every time.
We want you to have the clearest vision with quality & affordable eyewear to make you look and feel your best, with exclusive designs and cost-effective pricing whilst experiencing a personal customer journey.
Your eye examination journey will consist of many tests.
Arriving at your appointment
As you arrive at your appointment you will be asked to have a seat in the pre-test area. Here your personal details will be confirmed along with your Medicare number and private health information.
We will then analyse your current eyewear on our vertometer equipment, which has the ability to work out the prescription in your current glasses. We believe this is an important step as it will provide us with an answer to the question ‘have my eyes changed, do I need new glasses?’
Next is the visual field equipment. This is a machine that checks your side vision. This is very important as we use peripheral vision when driving and simply walking around. This is also a great tool to check for Glaucoma. One of the first signs of glaucoma is a loss in side vision.
We now can offer a new specialist test called an OCT. This is what the local ophthalmologist would use to check your eyes for conditions such as glaucoma. You could pay between $100-$200 at some ophthalmologists and independent optometrists. Here it will cost you just $45. Please ask a member of the team for more information.
Consultation with the optometrist
Your optometrist will take you through to the consultation room.
It is important to understand the reason for your visit, therefore a detailed history and symptoms will be discussed.
We will then assess your eye health – looking for conditions such as dry eyes, cataracts, floaters, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy. We are now also able to detect systemic conditions such as hypertension (blood pressure) and cholesterol.
Next will be a vision check. We will conduct a refraction which will determine the sharpest and most comfortable prescription for your distance vision, computer vision and near vision.
Your optometrist will summaries the findings regarding eye health and vision needs. The optometrist will make recommendations specific to your personal situation.
Contact lens consultation
You will have the option to discuss contact lenses. We now offer a comprehensive contact lens consultation for $50. This provides you with:
An eye health check
Contact lens assessment
Trial contact lenses
Contact lens care and handling tuition
Final aftercare appointment
Please ask a member of the team to discuss further
After the eye test
The optometrist will hand you over to the optical assistant who will guide you through the frame styling process. The optical assistants are trained to provide you with the best looking frame for your face shape and prescription needs. They will also recommend ways to make your lenses tougher and lighter if necessary.
